This delicious healthy gluten free pear bake has no added sugar, and you won’t miss it! This recipe is easy to make and uses healthy and simple ingredients.
I love a sweet breakfast, but sometimes you want a sweet and healthy breakfast and this recipe will meet both those needs. This gluten free bake is quick to prepare and only needs 7 ingredients.
What makes this gluten free pear bake healthy?
Pears are packed with vitamins and fibre. These nutrients are good for heart health, gut health and help fight inflammation. Of course, don’t peel the pear, as a lot of the fruits nutrients are harboured within the peel. This recipe contains a whole pear per serving.
The best part of this recipe is not only that it is super easy to make but that it doesn’t have any sugar that is added to it. This definitely doesn’t mean that it is not sweet, the pear adds more than enough sugar. That being said, if you feel you need to add some sweetness, add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup when the bake comes out of the oven.
This recipe is not like a pear tart or pie where you have a crust. This helps avoid using so many carbohydrates and butter that a typical crust contains. Instead, we mix some batter with the pears and while it bakes it creates a delicious bake with pieces of pears in between.
So essentially we lower sugar, carbohydrates and fat in this recipe.
A note on ingredients for this healthy gluten free pear bake
Butter
This recipe uses melted butter. You can easily replace it with vegetable oil that has a neutral flavour. Using a neutral-tasting oil will ensure that you don’t change the flavour profile of this bake.
Pear
This recipe can be made with apples instead of pear if that is what you prefer or have on hand.
Tips on making the pear bake
- I baked these in two 10cm (4 inch) cake tins. Just spray some non-stick spray in the pan before placing the mix in it. The bake will come out so easily once done. You can use any oven-safe dish that you prefer.
- It will seem as if the top browns quickly, but don’t be alarmed, this is normal and it won’t burn.
- This recipe is 2 servings but can be halved or doubled easily.

Storage
If you don’t eat both servings, you can store this in an airtight container in the fridge and just warm up when you need to.
